About the foundation

The United Internet for UNICEF Foundation was established in September 2006. It is an independent, legally responsible foundation under German Civil Law. The foundation primarily supports projects of UNICEF, the United Nations’ International Children’s Fund: From the wide selection of issues UNICEF is dealing with, projects are specifically chosen and presented on the websites of the United Internet group in order to win as many donors as possible.

“We are very happy that we were able to collect already more than 12,4 million USD in donations and about 7,000 active pledge donors via the online portals of 1&1, GMX and WEB.DE in the relatively short period since the establishment of the foundation,” Tess Ulrich, chairperson of the foundation, reported. All donations are passed on 100 per cent: About 90 per cent are allocated to the German Committee for UNICEF. Some ten per cent are allocated to other international humanitarian relief organizations.

Ralph Dommermuth, Board Chairman of United Internet, Tess Ulrich, Board Chairperson of the United Internet for UNICEF Foundation, Dr. Jürgen Heräus, Chairman of UNICEF Germany, Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff, Board Member of UNICEF Germany.

Board Chairman of United Internet, Ralph Dommermuth, said in conjunction with the symbolic presentation of a check to UNICEF in May: “Enabling children to actively participate in making choices to shape their own future is a responsibility which rests on everyone. UNICEF protects and fights for children’s rights worldwide, improves their quality of life on a lasting basis and lends instant aid in emergencies. That is why United Internet for UNICEF supports the work of UNICEF.”

Tess Ulrich, Board Chairperson of the foundation:
“The foundation pursues the goal of efficiently supporting and sponsoring the global work of UNICEF. The willingness of the portal users of WEB.de, GMX and 1&1 to participate in this commitment is honorable and very motivational to us.”

„The involvement of United Internet is extremely valuable, as it allows us to reach a lot of people very quickly“, says Dr. Jürgen Heraeus, Chairman of UNICEF Germany. „This enables UNICEF, for example, to create awareness and to mobilize donations on the internet in emergencies such as with the current situation in Myanmar. But also long-term sponsors find their way to UNICEF through this avenue.“

The creation of a protective environment for children throughout the world in which they can grow up in health and safety is one of the most important investments we can make in the future. We would like to encourage you to share this vision of the foundation and to support the work of UNICEF. Make a donation to your favourite project – or better yet, become a pledge donor and give lasting support!
